- EFFECTS OF MELTING GLACIERS-
- Shortage of electricity
- Extreme flooding
- Biodiversity loss and animals losing homes
- Coral Reefs will disappear
- Recontamination of the environment
- The economic costs of melting ice glaciers affect the whole world
- Scarcity of fresh water
- Increasing global warming
1.Shortage of electricity
As we all know, electricity is very important, if glaciers melt, the amount of water decreases, and if that happens, it would reduce the production of electricity. And the modern world can’t do without electricity!!!
2.Extreme flooding
If sea levels rise, it can cause flooding. The effects of flooding include loss of life and damage of buildings which is very dangerous.
3.Biodiversity loss and animals losing homes
Nature will be hugely effected and animals like polar bears, penguins etc. might lose their homes if all the glaciers melt. Without homes, they could become endangered or even extinct!
4.Coral Reefs will disappear
Coral reefs are also important because they protect coastlines from damaging effects from huge waves or tropical storms.
5.Recontamination of the environment
Recontamination of the environment which is not making the environment suitable by its surroundings, for example: Pollution makes the environment unclean or dirty, but environment is meant to be clean.
6.The economic costs of melting ice glaciers affect the world
If global warming is limited to 1.5c, the cost would be reduced by $10 Trillion! Melting sea ice could cost up to $130 trillion!
7.Scarcity of fresh water
Fresh water is the most important thing in the world, and ice contains 75% of the world’s fresh water. If glaciers are gone, the 25% would not be enough.
8.Increasing global warming
As you all know, global warming is very dangerous and is basically the main cause of this issue. Global warming is caused by air pollution, greenhouse gases, burning of fossil fuels etc. The rise in temperatures is melting the glaciers at an alarming rate.
